FID Encourages Growers to Apply for NRCS EQIP WaterSMART Funding

The Natural Resources Conservation District (NRCS) through partnership with US Department of Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) has awarded Fresno Irrigation District with its EQIP WaterSMART grant funding. This grant funding is for FID growers to do on-farm improvements in water conservation and irrigation water use efficiency.

Growers can receive funding for a number of practices and improvements including cover crop, irrigation ditch lining, microirrigation systems, and more.

This EQIP WaterSMART funding is unique from other EQIP funding because it is specifically reserved for eligible farms within FID boundaries. This means the competition pool for funding is much smaller than typical EQIP funding. The deadline to apply is February 16, 2024.

FID is hosting an online webinar Friday, February 2nd at 2:00 PM for growers who want to learn more about the grant program and how to apply.
